For the most part, Israel had little success being curious about others, instead making their own lives their top priority. Their lack of curiosity blocked their ability to see their neighbors in the image of God. Still, the Lord kept his promise to make something out of them for the purpose of being a light of grace and blessing to all other peoples (Gen. 12:2-3). This week reflect on whom God has been asking you to be curious about. Reach out to those people whom God places on your heart, seeking to learn more about them and their life. In this week's devotion’s Bible reading, Romans 5:18-21, we learn that sin—the things we think, say, or do that don’t please God—is big and powerful. Sin separates us from God. God was curious about taking formless things and creating something beautiful. God was curious on the first day as God spoke light into existence and gave darkness a place in creation. God was curious enough that creating sky, land, and oceans was life-giving and affirming in the world. God was curious enough to believe diversity in plants and animals was cool, creating them in a variety of dimensions, shapes, and colors. God’s curiosity led to the creation of two beacons in the sky to serve the earth. In the mind of God, curiosity was God’s radical bent of being in relationship, always moving toward life.
